New Collaborations!

Since Nova Mundi launched, founders, Daniel-John Williams and Marc de Launay have been attending lots of meetings and we are proud to be collaborating with some sensational writers to develop a slate of TV comedy.


Now, more than ever The North East needs good writers, great Indies, bulletproof collaborations and willing commissioners, so now is the time to strengthen our networks as we grow closer to liberating our projects to the world.


Since the Hattrick Productions and Fulwell73 announcements, including the BBC, North East Comedy HotHouse and Northern Film & Media News - Nova Mundi have set out to make sure our slate is varied and original.


We are proud to announce the writers we have on our 'collaboration table' below:


Callum Costello is a writer and filmmaker based out of the North East of England. In 2018 he was the only domestic filmmaker selected for the prestigious Black Factory Cinema / Werner Herzog Workshop in the Peruvian jungle, where he made the short film Su Madre el Rio. Callum also independently wrote, directed and funded short film Yuri which was selected for the Manchester International Short Film Festival. Callum was a participant in the final Screenwriting Goldmine Tribe programme through which he has developed multiple television series to pitch with the support of multi-BAFTA award winning producer Stu Blackburn. Callum was the inaugural Tyneside Cinema Graduate Artist in Residence and has seen his work exhibited at Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Sunderland Shorts Film Festival and Great Lakes International Film Festival. His writing work has seen him selected for development programmes with BAFTA, BFI, Northern Film and Media, Digital City Teeside and Northern Film School.


Emily Fairweather - wrote the channel4 Comedy Sparks with Couch Potato Films which Daniel-John Williams Produced for Northeast Comedy Hothouse, but Daniel and Emily have known each other and worked together for several years previous on smaller scale comedy projects, of which one short film, 'Stargazing' a short which Emily wrote and Daniel Produced, entered and won several film festivals. Emily is known for her work on Murder, They Hope starring Jonny Vegas. Emily is keen to continue working with Nova Mundi and we couldn’t be happier.


Marc Pye known for his work as a writer on Waterloo Road, Eastenders, Holby City, Hollyoaks, The Bill and countless others, but most known for his work with Jimmy McGovern on The Flasher for THE BAFTA, International Emmy and RTS Award winning series one of The Street. Marc Pye and Marc de Launay go way back... To a time when cassette players were cool.


Alli Davies - has written a short film DAVE, which Nova Mundi are currently developing and producing, but Alli is also a wonderful writer in theatre and now transitioning over to television and film. Alli is a NORTH supported artist with Northern Stage, a member of BAFTA crew and was part of BBC Northern Voices 2018/19. Alli has recently received early development funding from BFI for her first feature film, Mandala Street.


Dan Salmon and Connor Lawson - Dan Salmon and Connor Lawson: The brains behind PIT YACKERS, which is currently being developed by Fulwell73. Connor Lawson featured on The Dumping Ground from 2017-2020 with 56 episodes under his belt. They are keen to work with Nova Mundi on their idea. Dan is also a writer, model and soon to be actor in PIT YACKERS.


Niel Bushnell - an animator by day, writer by night has worked on The Dumping Ground, Space Jam, Pinnocchio, Derry Girls (Additional Visual Affects) Niel worked with Daniel on a BFI comedy short for Tees Valley Screen | BFI.Network and Northern Film & Media, called ‘DCSS’ and now they wish to collaborate and develop together on two ideas Niel has. Oh and he has also written two DOCTOR Who audiobooks for BBC Audio.


Gavin Williams - début feature as a screenwriter, AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS, was a New York Times Critic’s Pick, previously available on Netflix, it now streams on Shudder. His work has been optioned by Amazon Studios, and supported by British Film Institute development funding. With his co-directing partner, Mark Lediard, he has been commissioned by Fox Digital Studios/ Disney, and their subsequent short, THE MIME, played on FX, FXX, and currently streams on Hulu in the U.S.


Marc de Launay - Founder of Nova Mundi, Marc has written several commissioned drama screenplays (features, television and short formats). Most notably he has written and produced many short films, one, ‘Contorted Hazel’, a short horror produced by Mandragora Productions Limited and Scottish Screen, that has been screened internationally at festivals throughout and developed/written by him into a feature that was submitted to and optioned by a number of major US studios, including Sam Raimi’s Ghosthouse Pictures; this feature script was also a quarter finalist in the PAGE International Screenplay Awards ( https://pageawards.com and International Screenplay Bluecat Competition- https://www.bluecatscreenplay.com .

Marc was commissioned in 2009 to adapt the best selling and Global Best Book award winning spy memoirs book ‘NOC – Non Official Cover’ by Nicholas Anderson ( https://nicholasanderson.info ) into a feature and TV series he titled as ‘The Judas Tree’. In 2015 he won an ‘Honourable Mention’ for his feature script ‘Contorted Hazel’ in the Screenplay Festival (http://screenplayfestival.com In 2014 Marc’s feature screenplay ‘Manifest’ was a Finalist in the Screenplay Festival (http://screenplayfestival.com/?p=1608 ) scheduled to be produced in 2024 with Marc as director in association with Playdead TV: http://www.playdead.tv ).


Lewis Britnell and Daniel-John Williams - are working closely on 4 ideas (three TV comedy mini series and a feature film titled PORKY with talks of a possible comedy mockumentary called Photobomber which was shot as a test pilot with DJW Talent clients
